Police Officer - Lateral Entry

The City of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Plattsmouth Police Department is accepting application for the position of Police Officer-Lateral Entry. A Police Officer – Lateral Entry is an experienced Law Enforcement Officer, who possesses a basic law enforcement certification. A Police Officer – Lateral Entry must successfully complete the Field Training Program. The length of training will be dependent on an incumbent’s performance as determined by the police training staff. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED; some college preferred, but not required, a valid Nebraska driver’s license, no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions or a dishonorable discharge from military service. The incumbent must possess effective communications skills and desire to work with the public. Duties for this position are consistent with municipal law enforcement. Qualified applicants will be notified of the testing date and time. Upon completion of the testing process, an eligibility list will be established for the current and future openings. A thorough background check will be conducted prior to any offer of employment. Salary will be dependent upon experience. Lateral Entry: To be eligible for Lateral Entry consideration, an individual MUST meet the above general requirements and have satisfactorily completed a probation period for law enforcement classification which is comparable to Plattsmouth Police Department’s Police Officer classification and possess a current basic law enforcement certification.
